PowerPoint game revising Functional Skills English knowledge from Entry Level 1 up to Level 2.
Includes sound effects from "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" - best played with speakers for dramatic effect!
A question is displayed with four possible answers. The correct answer for each is revealed on the next slide. If you can complete the game, you 'pass' FS Level 2.
Play with a group. Draw names at ransom to answer the questions and allow 'contestants' to:
"Phone a Friend" - ask on specific person in the group for their answer
"Ask the Audience" - take a vote from the group on the correct answer
"Go 50/50" - tell them one correct and one incorrect answer.

A presentation about the Health and Safety act and how Health and Safety is essential within the work place.
Useful for vocational studies (apprenticeships), work based learning or 'world of work' preparation.
An information booklet about types of abuse, how to spot it and what to do if you discover abuse, either through witnessing it or having it disclosed to you.
Safeguarding and Protection of Children/Vulnerable Adults can be a daunting topic, this booklet is a simple guide to help people understand their responsibilities and role within safeguarding, and give them a little more information about the different types of abuse.
It is a word document, so it can be amended to include institution specific information (EG name of Safeguarding Representative) or to add in more information, such as contact details or links to websites and other organisations that can provide sector specific information.
A financial literacy activity themed around choosing the best offer on cola from three different supermarkets. Designed for Functional Skills Entry Level 3/Level 1 delivery, could be a good Key Stage 3 or even lower ability Key Stage 4 activity to highlight the importance of reading information thoroughly in maths exams.
This resource is designed for KS2 (Y4-6) to help students develop their skills in:
* Multiplication (using grid method)
* Understanding money
* Long Addition
* Converting pounds and pennies
It is themed around buying video games (all child friendly) and can be updated to include more modern games for future years teaching.
Can also be used for Functional Skills Level 1
These sheets were designed to collect evidence for Functional Skills Speaking and Listening assessments. They act as prompts for the assessor to look for key events and phrases during the discussions and presentations, provide a format for making quick notes and act as a quick check for curriculum coverage at L1 and L2.
Ideal for new assessors who are learning to conduct S&L assessments as part of Functional Skills, both as standalone qualifications and as part of apprenticeship frameworks.
Useful to review with learners, especially those who are nervous and need to have the requirements of the assessment explained more clearly than the exam board guidance will allow for.
Used with adult learners and lower ability teen learners.
Designed for City and Guilds assessments, used subsequently with Pearsons EdExcel. The criteria were designed with government guidance in mind rather than a specific exam board specification.
Praised by OFSTED inspectors and senior management, accepted by QAs as supplementary evidence for discussions and presentations, where a recording of a discussion cannot take place due to restrictions on technology (e.g. in prisons, power stations, etc) or confidentiality (sensitive areas of care homes/nurseries).

Useful for Functional Skills L1 and L2, as well as introduction to Excel courses, ICT training and CPD up-skilling.

I got fed up of seeing such miserable factsheets, so I decided to make a slightly more funny one.
A quick summary of legislation and requirements regarding Hazardous Substances. Useful for World Of Work/Workbased Learning sessions, and for those on apprenticeships and work based training courses.
This activity set was developed for a micro teach for a job interview (I got the job!)
It covers aspects of Functional Skills English and Maths, but could also be adapted as an activity for KS3 lower ability learners, recapping comprehension skills and mathematics skills and knowledge including percentage calculation.

This can be used as a complete booklet, or separate sheets on different topics can be extracted for targeted topic revision. The booklet was written for adults, but would be suitable for KS3 and KS4 classes as revision in the run up to end-of-year and external exams. The booklet covers all of the necessary punctuation for L1 and most of the L2 Functional Skills writing exams.
